Breaking news....
The great Dr Ron Hill has responded to the Coasters’ email to voice his support. He would have run the Blackpool leg but needs to be in Lanzarote on May 9th to host a ‘Marathon Masterclass’. He would run the last leg if he’s around at the time and has offered to write a short message of encouragement for reading out at the start.
Other news....
Annandale Observer published a great Coasters article on 26 Feb 2010 promoting the Coasters Relay to potential Scottish runners and at the same time promoting ‘Spot Barry’ competition.
‘Spot Barry’ Competition...
The competition is open to anyone (other than Coasters!) who might chance on Barry as it makes it way round the coasts of Britain. To enter entrants need to take a picture of the runner they suspect may be carrying Barry with place and time of spotting for verification and email it to the Coasters email address. At the end of the event the winner would be drawn from a ‘virtual hat’. All other accurate spotting entered would get a ‘I spotted Barry’ certificate. Tina Irving has helped secured some prizes for the winner that include a weekend mini break for two in the far north of Scotland with two nights in ‘Ye Olde Post Office’ at Dunnet Head and a Sunday carvery for two at a local hotel.
Coasters T-shirt idea....suggestion from Offord
As everyone has different preferences to the types of t-shirts, the idea is that we have an iron-on transfer for anyone who wishes to have one, at a nominal cost. The proposed design features the Coasters logo in A5 sized print with all forum names arranged alphabetically of those that are on the Coasters database when this goes to print round about 3rd week in April. Please post your comments and feedback on the main thread in RW.
Barry is taking shape....
Barry is taking shape under the most capable hands of Woody2Run! To get Barry accustom to running, Bruce has offered to carry Barry when he runs the Virgin London Marathon. Coasters who going to the VLM in April, whether running, marshalling or just as spectators, look out for Barry as he goes round. Spread the word to your friends and family who are going to be there, or watching on the small screen.
Scotland Stretches....
There are still concerns that some parts of Scotland are not still to be populated by Coasters. Please do your utmost to help spread the word around.
Last but not least....
